About Us
Taiwan Biodiversity Information Facility (TaiBIF) was established in 2001 and signed a memorandum of understanding to become one of the nodes of the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) in Taiwan.
Purpose & Mission
We are promoting the integration, management, mobilization, and application of biodiversity information, including two parts:

The development of biodiversity information services and infrastructure through the establishment of processes, system, and software engineering methods, to ensure that appropriate software-assisted solutions are available in the process of data release and access.

The culture of data sharing, through discussing the concepts and methods of data management with various supervisory units and research teams, enhances relevant personal recognition of the value of open data, so that they are willing to organize, backup and standardize data, and strengthen readability reusability of data within their daily research life.
Based on the goals, we have the following tasks:
- Building biodiversity information infrastructure.
- Promoting the concept of open data.
- Promoting the openness and integration of biodiversity data
- Support biodiversity-related research and policy making.
- Connecting Taiwan and international biodiversity information
