Supported by NSC, TaiBIF organized the “2013 International Conference on Open Data in Biodiversity and Ecological Research” held from November 20 to 22, 2013. The aims are to promote open data in science, focusing on introducing to the domain scientists and students in Taiwan the international data portals and collaborative platforms in sharing biodiversity and ecological research data, as well as to encourage researchers to make their research data accessible through the mechanisms of publishing data papers in scientific journals. Twelve foreign speakers introduced AP-BON, DataONE, Ecological Research, EU-BON, GBIF, JBIF, linked open data, NEON, Pensoft, and Thomson Reuters respectively. A one-day workshop offered training courses on submitting raw data for all the biodiversity-related National Science Council (NSC) project directors and their research assistants.
