The Biodiversity Research Center of Academia Sinica in Taipei is hosting the exhibition through April 30, 2012 (http://fishdb.sinica.edu.tw/exhibit/index.html). Besides introducing Taiwan’s fish diversity and conservation issues, a real-time underwater video of Kenting and a 3D-virtual fish world are presented. The visitors will learn how to use the Fish Database of Taiwan to check out the morphology, habitual information, and distribution of Taiwan’s 3,100 fishes. They will also gain knowledge of fishes such as the latest discoveries, the bizarre fishes, the “world records” of fishes, the voice of fishes, and the endemic and extinct fishes in Taiwan. Moreover, they will better understand the reasons for Taiwan’s high fish diversity and why the diversity is decreasing.
