Orchids


Orchids have been a part of Chinese culture for many centuries, permeating Chinese history, legends, literature, and art. Since ancient times, orchids have been celebrated in China for their beauty and fragrance, and appreciated as symbols of nobility, friendship, and refinement. With the reputation of being the kingdom of orchids, Taiwan is known as the world’s leading source of orchids. This orchid show at National Museum of Natural Science in Taichung is scheduled to be held till February 27, 2011 (http://www.nmns.edu.tw/nmns_eng/04exhibit/Temporary/exhibitis/Orchids.htm. In addition to the display of the most notable genera of the orchid family, the show also provides information on the distribution, taxonomy, characteristics, reproduction, evolution, ecology and uses of the orchid family).
