1984年在高雄中洲海域採集到的一尾擬鱸屬魚被海生館何宣慶博士發現是新種，為感謝對臺灣魚類研究多所貢獻以及提供此魚正模標本的中山大學莫顯喬老師，新種被命名為Parapercis moki(莫氏沙鱸)，並已發表在2013年Zootaxa期刊上。
